Who is the team for?
Any child Pre-K through 6th grade with any functional (physical, cognitive, social or emotional) need that cannot be reasonably accommodated in a traditional team setting.
How is the team structured to ensure inclusivity and safety?
“Buddies” assist the players with batting and fielding as needed and keep the players safe on the field. The program provides special adaptive equipment and emphasizes skill development, but its primary focus is on nurturing each player’s strengths and fostering a deep love for the game in a noncompetitive environment. Additionally, promoting peer socialization is a key component and is seamlessly integrated into the experience.
Where and how often?
Games and practices are held at the Avon Driving Park at 350 Spring Street, Avon, NY. Games/practices will be held once per week and will last about an hour.
We do not live in Avon. Can my child still play on the team?
Yes! You do not need to live in Avon to participate on the Adaptive Team.
How much does the program cost?
There is not registration fee but there is a volunteer commitment of $25.00 which can be met through coaching, working in concessions, helping out on clean up days, etc
